Growing up in Boulder, Colorado I earned an appreciation for population growth, water, and environmental sustainability. Moving to Tucson and attending The University of Arizona, I received a B.S. in Business Administration 1986 and with Merrill Lynch Real Estate earned an Arizona Real Estate License 1986. During school and upon graduation I was employed at Tucson National Resort & Realty which was under development by local developer Nanini Northwest. I was part of the opening team for the Tucson Resort and surrounding home development working in various business and real estate capacities that included marketing, real estate sales and development, finance and operations. 

 In 1987 I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona employed by International Conference Resorts, a developer and operator of resorts worldwide. I was part of the on-site management team that opened new properties in Austin, Colorado Springs, and Washington DC.  In 1988 I was recruited by The Phoenician Resort and assisted in opening and operating that property which cost over $300 million to build.  It was considered the top resort in the world upon opening. During my three and half years at the Phoenician I was involved with ownership transitions, revenue generation, marketing, budgets, and management. With over 1200 employees, 600 plus rooms, 10 restaurants and 2 golf courses there was always new opportunities to learn.

 While working at the Phoenician in 1988 I was introduced to Biosphere 2 via the Phil Donahue Show which had an on-location program featuring Biosphere 2. I knew then that I wanted to be part of it. In 1990 I stared working temporarily for Biosphere 2 while still at the Phoenician. In six months, I was offered full time as Biosphere 2 was under construction but had just opened to visitors and growing fast.

 During the first years at Biosphere 2 visitation grew to 250k and yearly budgets of $30 million. By 1994 I was managing over 250 employees and 10 departments, Over the past 30 years I have been involved in all facets of brand management, marketing, PR & communications, project development & entitlements, senior management team, budgeting, organizational transition, and operations. I have worked directly for ownership, senior executives at Columbia University and now the past 14 years for The University of Arizona.  The last 10 years I had dual appointments at the UA College of Science and Biosphere 2.  In my current position as Director of Marketing for Biosphere 2 and over the past 27 years, I have been direct lead on generating over 4 million visitors and estimated $100 million in earned revenue with the various management and ownership groups. Below is list of the multiple positions we were appointed to over the past 30 years.  I am very involved in Arizona-Tucson economic development, tourism, enterprise startups and live in Oro Valley with my wife where we raised our 2 grown children.
